Setting up your phone number
Keep the number your customers already call.
Your Twilio number is what your AI actually answers on. You have two ways to get customers reaching it — pick based on whether you want calls, texts, or both.
📞 Option A — Phone calls (recommended, keeps your current number)
Most businesses don't need a new number for calls at all. Just forward your existing business number to your Twilio number — customers keep calling the number they already know, and it rings through to your AI.
Part 1 — Do this in Twilio
- Create a free Twilio account at twilio.com/try-twilio and buy any number with Voice enabled (~$1/month) — this is the number your AI actually lives on
- On that number's Configure tab, set "A call comes in" to Webhook:

⚠️ You're done in Twilio. The next step happens somewhere else.
Part 2 — Do this with your phone carrier (NOT in Twilio)
Call your own phone carrier — Rogers, Bell, Telus, AT&T, whoever you pay your phone bill to — and ask them to set up call forwarding from your real business number to the new Twilio number from Part 1. This varies by carrier — search "call forwarding setup [your carrier name]" if unsure, or just call their support line and ask.
💬 Option B — Text messages & WhatsApp (optional)
Carriers don't support forwarding texts the way they do calls, so texting only works on the Twilio number itself. Advertise that number specifically wherever you want customers to text you.
- Use the same Twilio number from Option A (make sure SMS was enabled)
- On its Configure tab, set "A message comes in" to Webhook:
